Professional Development
Strengths
1. I am highly skilled at using Internet search engines (e.g., Google, library searches, yahoo, Bing).
2. I am highly skilled at using mobile technologies (e.g., iPads, smartphones). 3. I am highly skilled at using word processing software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Google Docs). |
1. I know how to design technology-based learning activities that focus on real-world applications and issues.
2. I know how to make learning more effective (meaning achieving learning goals) by using technology. 3. I know how to use digital tools to collaborate with students, colleagues, and others in online environments. |
Areas to Improve On
1. I need to know the copyright rules as they apply to teachers, and how to appropriately cite sources and intellectual property.
2. I need to know how to handle cyber-bullying in the classroom. 3. I need to be able to inform students about safe practices online and relevant privacy issues. |
1. I need to feel comfortable advocating for technology integration in my future school.
2. I need to be able to help other teachers develop technology skills, and feel comfortable sharing my ideas related to effective use of technology with colleagues and peers. 3. I need to know how to communicate and collaborate, in diverse teaching practices, with teachers across the globe. |
Professional Development of Goals
1. One goal of mine is to be able to effectively use technology in my classroom for lessons and units. I know that I have completed this goal when I have an abundance of technology tools and resources up my sleeve that will aid ineffective teaching.
2. Another goal of mine is to know how to deal with cyber-bullying in my classroom. I know that I have completed this goal when I have enough knowledge and resources that will help me effectively combat cyber-bullying in my classroom and raise awareness. 3. A third goal of mine is to promote cultural awareness with the use of technology. I know that I have completed this goal when I have the right resources and knowledge about cultural awareness, that I feel comfortable introducing this in my classroom. |
Evidences of Accomplishment of Goals
1. I have achieved this goal by aqquirring tools and resources that will help me create effective lessons and materials. Some examples of these are making instructional videos, concept maps using kidspiration, and using EDpuzzle as an assessment tool. In the future, I hope to improve on my skills to research and use technology to make my lessons more effective. Here is the page with all of the examples.
2. I have achieved this by goal by researching and creating materials on cyber-bullying. For my W200 class, I had to create a piktochart that included cyber-bullying statistics and resources for parents and students to use in order to prevent cyber-bullying. I hope that in the future, I will have more knowledge and resources that will help my students fight against cyber-bullying and raise more awareness. I believe it is my responsibility as an educator to teach important issues effectively. Here is the page with my piktochart. 3. Although I feel that I do not have enough resources and knowledge to have completed this goal, I have made progress. One resource that we learned about in W200 was MIE or Skype in the Classroom. With the use of Skype, I can connect my classroom to other classrooms around the globe. This will allow my students to have interactions with students from different cultures and backgrounds. I hope that in the future, I will have an adequate amount of knowledge and expand on the resources that I am currently aware of that will help me complete this goal.
